Hydrocephalus Awareness

It's been awhile since I've updated anything on here. I want to explain something. Today marks the 15th day of Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, and while I've shared many different things, I want to share and explain something. The thing I want to explain today is that not only do people like children and adults develop Hydrocephalus because Hydrocephalus can be diagnosed at any time, but animals can develop it. Yes, not just people but animals. Did you also know that just like you or I with Hydrocephalus, that animals can also have seizures? Did you know that some people with Hydrocephalus can also have other things like Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, people who have Parkinson's can be misdiagnosed and they can have NPH which stands for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. People with NPH are just like you or I. They go through brain surgery, they deal with other things that a younger child, teen, adult, or young adult may not go through when dealing with a condition like this to where there is not a cure. The only treatment option is a shunt. I live with Hydrocephalus, Epilepsy, some learning disabilities, I suffered some brain damage, I have some nerve damage in different parts of my body. I have peripheral neuropathy in both my feet. I've gone through 4 surgeries. One that was open heart surgery at 3 and a half years old, and 3 brain surgeries. The first one being an external shunt to monitor the fluid in my brain. Then at one and a half I was permanently shunted, and then at 10 years old I had my first shunt revision. I've had hydrocephalus all my life but wasn't diagnosed until 6 months old. I may go through so many things in my life, but what doesn't stop me is doing the things I love that I like to call volunteer jobs from home where a lot of it, is done over the computer online or over the phone. For example, helping out with two ministries which are Christian Media Spotlight and Red's Room, next I do zoom calls with people who are in their 20's, and with teens once a month. I love every minute of it, and I wouldn't trade any of what I do for anything. I also do online courses, or as I like to call them classes. You see everything I do online or over the phone, like help people with the Be My Eyes App, do a survey through Google Opinion Rewards to help companies better, or even leading a phone call Bible Study on Wednesday nights at 7pm eastern. No matter what I'm doing with these ministries or what you see listed on my page or the other things listed on there of what I do from home, on my Facebook. It doesn't matter as long as I am doing it with people I love, care about, and still getting to be with my family, and my church family on Sundays where I even do different things for them as well. I feel called in everything I'm doing right now. I feel like it's right where God wants me to be and I am happy doing everything that I do online or on the phone cause it's what gives me a purpose to serve in so many different ways. This month is Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, it matters not only to me but it matters to so many people. People with Hydrocephalus can pass away from it. Their shunts can malfunction and even get infected. This month is super important for me to keep sharing with you, and I hope you'll keep learning about it also.
